IDEAL: IIUMSU Induction Day and Leadership Training


From July 19 to 21, 2024, a program sponsored by Architects of Diversity (AOD) known as IDEAL (IIUMSU Induction Day and Leadership Training) was held at 101 Resort in Janda Baik, Bentong, Pahang. The event was attended by the IIUMSU 24/25 officers, with the primary goal of instilling leadership values and discussing IIUMSU-related matters among the officers.


The program featured respected speakers who covered several key topics. Br. Amir Nadzim and Br. Izzuddin Yunus led the IIUMSU Foundation Slot, which highlighted the establishment and history of IIUMSU. Officers benefited from this slot by learning more about IIUMSU's history and increasing their enthusiasm to assist the students.



On the next day, the program continued with the Grassroots & Media Advocacy Workshop, conducted by Br. Irfan Mahzan from Liga Rakyat Demokratik, focusing on organizational media advocacy and critical problem-solving. Br. Farhan Amran also facilitated the Organizational Structural Workshop, exploring office optimization and transparency. For the next session, Dr. Abdul Muqit bin Muhammad, a lecturer of Malay Studies at the University of Malaya, discussed campus politics and leadership, emphasizing the dire need for activism among university students. Lastly, for the Presidential Slot, the President and Deputy Presidents of IIUMSU presented each locality's direction and future vision of IIUMSU.



On the last day of IDEAL, the President of IIUMSU, Br. Ali Karimi, presented the Appointment Certificate to the officers. This certificate marked the beginning of a new tenure and new hope for IIUMSU. The officers greatly benefited from this program, gaining increased knowledge and skills, particularly in leadership values, as well as the opportunity to make new friends.
